Groom Ceremony

Human beings live to see their dreams materialize, and hope forms the foundation of our future. Our wishes embody our desires, reflecting what we lack or what expectations remain unmet. At times, these aspirations may appear so distant that we find solace in daydreaming. This collection is, in essence, an extension of my own daydreams.

While for many, getting married seems an inevitable milestone, a foreseeable journey of joining two lives in holy matrimony, for me, it remains a dream yet to be fulfilled.

In Iran, wedding ceremonies hold profound significance, deeply ingrained in tradition. It is through this ceremonial act that the bride and groom are officially recognized as a couple. The Iranian wedding, a momentous occasion for its people, encompasses a myriad of traditions, some antiquated, others enduring through the years.

Threading (Band-Andāzān), Bridal make-up and hair removal process prior to the ceremony, traditionally done by groom’s mother, the future mother-in-law.

Hennaing (Hanā-Bandān), Traditionally this is a bachelorette ceremony. Upon bride’s last night at home, a women-only party is held to decorate both bride and groom’s hands with Henna, a coloring herb believed to be sent from heaven, as a sign of prosperity and health.

Exchanging Vows (Aqd-Konān), As the future couple exchange vows, the most provident good-looking former-brides of the family wish them a sweet conjugal life with grating two sugar cones above their heads.
